Since 2021, Glo has been supporting the Daughters Rising foundation, dedicated to the empowerment and education of Karen girls in Thailand, with donations of 50,000 euros.
It has been 3 years since Ixone Elosegui, co-founder of Glo, discovered the project carried out by the Daughters Rising Foundation in the indigenous areas of northern Thailand, where it fights against the trafficking of girls from the Karen ethnic group through education and empowerment. The work they do moved her so much that since 2021, Glo has been actively supporting this NGO. Every time you buy a product, 5% of the profit is donated to this foundation.
The Karen ethnic group has been heavily persecuted in Myanmar.
The Daughters Rising Foundation is located in Northern Thailand, very close to the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. It is an area as strategic as it is conflictive.
The Karen ethnic group has been heavily persecuted in Myanmar. The girls who benefit from these scholarships come from mountain villages or refugee camps where a large part of the Karen population currently resides.
I believe we do not give the due importance to the right to education because for us it is a right that has been acquired a long time ago. But when you see that having access to a scholarship can save these girls from ending up being sold to a brothel, you become more aware of how privileged we are. Moreover, many of these girls, after completing their university education (nurses, teachers, doctors...), return to their home villages transformed into women ready to improve their living conditions.

This summer, the first "Karen Solidarity Bags" were launched. They are much more than a summer bag; they are made with the typical fabrics of the garments worn by Karen women. They are completely handcrafted on their looms, a meticulous process that takes the artisans several days. These are unique pieces that represent their culture, an authentic manifestation of their tradition and way of life. Each bag showcases its great talent, which is passed down from generation to generation. During this summer, customers who made purchases over 100€ on our website received this gift. An initiative that adds to everything Glo does to raise awareness about the foundation's impact on Karen ethnic women.
